The Andalusian people have a real warmth and hospitality. Mix that with powerful scenery and you’ve got Las Alpujarras, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. White- washed villages drape the hillsides and the effect of more than 300 years of Moorish domination is still shown in farming techniques, food and architecture.

The holiday uses three venues - Malaga, Capileira in the spectacular Barranco de Poqueira and Nerja by the sea to finish.

Arrival at Malaga Airport and following the instructions sent, make your own way to our Malaga city hotel. Information about this colourful coastal city and what to see will be sent with your holiday full balance confirmation. Days can be extended at this venue if requested, before and after main tour to fall in line with flights and any other interests.

After breakfast we set off towards the Sierra Nevada National Park in our vehicles with travel time and a vast changing landscape approx 2.5hrs We stop off somewhere en route for lunch (Not included) and a leg stretch. The first sight of the giant mountains from the coast road near Motril will stay with you forever!
On arrival at Capileira 1436mtrs above sea level, we check in and waste no time in getting our boots on to explore. “La Cebadilla” walking to an abandoned hamlet built to service the Poqueira power station at the head of the gorge. 8Km

“Pampaneira - Canar” via the GR7 long distance path. We taste some of the very best ingredients this area has to offer on this 11Km long linear route.

“Pitres – Bubion”. Today we explore nearby Pitres and walk to Bubion along an old sheep drovers’ path with sweeping views as far as the eye can see. 7Km

“Timar - Lobras –Cadiar”. Our journey takes us into a lesser known part of these hills. A great walk and a great way to discover this part of the world, uniting three very different village communities. 15km approx

“Portugos circuit” Our time in this area concludes with an extremely pretty walk from Portugos to the villages of Atalbeitar and Ferreirola to leave you with some great images of “Las Alpujarras” 9Km, before our journey back to Nerja.

The last excursion is the mighty “Cuesta del cielo” at the back of Nerja in the Parque de Sierra Tejeda. The mountain looks like a pyramid climbing to the sky from the coast, and at 1500mtrs, standing on the summit is a rewarding finish to our week. 15Km approx.

• Services of a guide from arrival at Malaga hotel.
• Six guided walks
• All transport used during tour - From our Malaga accommodation on day two until Nerja, although we can offer a shuttle going to airport from Nerja to get to the airport for 10.30 Friday 16 th basically to drop hired vehicles, but by all means use it if you can. Taxis and public bus times will be provided on request.
• Four evening meals (two choice menu of the day).
• Breakfast every day.
• The price is based on two people sharing a twin or double room
• A single supplement is available on request
• Accommodation on this tour with the exception of Malaga is in small family run guest houses / hotels

The week is a land tour which means it’s up to you to organise flights to Malaga and get connecting transport to our Malaga city address. Directions given with full balance details.
Our tour officially ends in Nerja, but a shuttle to drop hired vehicles back at Malaga airport will be available at approx 9.15am on the 16th getting there 10.30 ish if you can use it.
Three evening meals to be found and all picnics throughout week.
Accommodation can be extended if you wish to arrive before the tour or extend afterwards
